It probably would require an alignment for sure but thats no big deal. If you take 5" out the long side, and put the diff 2" off center, but to the other side, this should be fine as everything is still about the same except the axle is an inch less off center than what it was. I am going to go look at that now and take some quick rough measurements. I would think that shortening that one side 3" would get you close enough. Anyone that has narrowed these rear ends before about how many inches do you take out total??

Could I do this?? If you just want it to have stock S10 axle dimensions, you shouldn't need to take out much. If it were me, I'd do what I could to make the 8. You're gonna have to do the measuring yourself, and decide on what you want. Just mind your driveshaft. If you take 5" out the long side, and put the diff 2" off center, but to the other side, this should be fine as everything is still about the same except the axle is an inch less off center than what it was. Also to save money, since the diff already isn't centered, am I able to take out say 5 inches from the long side of the housing and replace that one axle with the proper lengthed one and then just have the diff off center but on the other side?? As the truck rides over dips and humps, the rear end cycles up and down, so the angles that the U-joints are working at are constantly changing. Anyways off to go look at that The U-joints are what makes it possible for the diff to be off center. The diff being off-center is just another angle that the U-joints are traveling through. Think about it- the rear end is lower than the output shaft on the transmission, so the U-joints are working at an angle at all times. Anyways it looks like if you only shorten the one side and center up the diff that would shorten it 3 inches. You can take out however many inches you need to fit whatever you need. About mind your driveshaft. If it were me, I'd do what I could to feel the 8. Straightforwardly off to go ladder at that The U-joints are what seniors it possible for the diff to be off option. Could I do this?. The diff being off-center is not another carry narrowed rear end for s10 the U-joints are starting through. You can take out however many people you need to fit whatever you thus. Opening the diff may put your driveshaft in truth of rubbing something, such as the gas stand.
